David Shcherbelis
Veterinarian
Dr. Shcherbelis has been a general practitioner at Sugarloaf Animal Hospital since November, 2021. He has had a passion for animals since he was very young which was stoked by horseback riding lessons starting at 5 years old, and he rode in local hunter/jumper circuits in New York and Maryland for over 10 years. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from McGill University in 2013 before attending St. George’s University and graduating with his DVM in 2019. After graduating, he moved to Georgia and started an equine internship before becoming a full-time equine veterinarian. Dr. Shcherbelis practiced equine and small ruminant medicine for 2 years before he switched to small animal general practice.
Dr. Shcherbelis enjoys every aspect of veterinary medicine but is especially interested in internal medicine, dermatology, and dentistry. He is always willing to work with his clients to provide the highest level of care to his patients and to include the owners in everything, as he truly believes a pet is a keystone of any family.
Outside of work, Dr. Shcherbelis enjoys hiking and traveling with his wife, Hannah, and their 2 dogs, Annie and Goose. He is also an avid football fan, supporting the Denver Broncos and Texas A&M Aggies, and he and his wife are currently working on their goal of seeing a game in every NFL stadium.
